When in Bali

Day 1

Ubud is a town and the cultural centre of Bali, Indonesia.  It has continuously been an oasis to a myriad of trippers entranced to the "Eat, Pray, Love" phenomenon.  Surely can you conjure yourself in a wild and free spree if you have the grandeur of endless time.  But in this occasion we opted for a slow paced one and decluttered the tourist traps on the list.  Just come in contact with authentic Balinese stirred with a touch of luxe and a bit of charm.  You deserve it!

When in Bali, It's best to arrive and leave with a big smile.  People here are happy for no apparent reason, it's contagious.  Getting around this laid-back tropical island doesn't seem to be a problem.  In our case, we booked a tour guide few days in advance.   Putu Arnawa of Bali Friend, a humble and friendly local who shares his passion for Balinese art, culture, tradition, beliefs, and life.   If you favour off the beaten paths, he sure is a perfect match.

We arrived quite late in the afternoon from Singapore.  Putu picked us up at the airport and welcomed us with a firm handshake and a positive energy.  Before checking in at the hotel, he drove us to Neka Art Museum situated in a beautiful garden setting.  It opened since the 1980's.  Most art enthusiasts believe it houses the most important and comprehensive collection.   The museum showcases a wide range of artworks from the traditional Balinese style of paintings famously known as the Wayang style,  Indonesian art, Lempad and Arie Smit creations.

A welcoming smile and a gracious farewell is what we always look for in hospitality.  This is what defines Kayumanis Ubud Private Villas and Spa.   Nestled in a lush and serene location in the heart of Ubud, the cultural centre of Bali.  Once you arrive, you will be escorted down in beautiful tree-lined walk ways to your private Balinese style designed villa with your own infinity pool.  You will find peace and calm in this unique location having cinnamon trees, tropical forest and the gentle flowing of Ayung river as your backdrop.     With such accommodation, you might as well want to indulge a little and have À la carte meals served in your villa any time of the day or night.  The delectable selection includes local Indonesian, Asian and international cuisine. But you don't want to miss their Dining Corner Restaurant as well.  Great food, a romantic atmosphere and impeccable service.

Day 2

It's a new day and there's no better way to explore a place than to immerse with the locals.  It's a Be Bali Day!  Set a date with Bali Friend and he can arrange a fun-filled morning for you and your friend(s).  He then brings you to their family village and let's you experience a day in the life of Balinese people.

In the afternoon, you can go to wherever works for you.  We chose a scenic drive passing through sacred Banyan trees, temples, and rice paddies. While you're there,  make sure to catch a breathtaking sunset in the horizon at Tanah Lot.  After a long day, head to Alchemy for a light, clean meal and a recharging green juice.
